Most of the coverage for our new mayor (by some miracle) is about his policies, his all-female transition team, his cool wife, and stuff he’s credited for getting done around the city in his first month in office.
While our first lady, Rama, has been getting all the buzz for her amazing style and fantastic pre-inauragration editorial, her husband is not to be out done. When I saw this photo of our mayor in the most outrageously cool jacket, my jaw hit the floor. I wasn’t the only one immediately hooked… Harper’s Bazaar covered it within hours. An excerpt from the article by Camille Freestone:
“The piece also features custom embroidery by the Bushwick-based Arena Embroidery, founded by Rocco Arena in 2018. “The City of New York” features prominently at the chest in bold curly lettering while the bicep reads “Mayor.” The inside collar states: “No problem too big. No task too small.” The quote, a sentiment he reiterates often, references a section of his inauguration speech in which he states: “Let us prove that when a city belongs to the people, there is no need too small to be met, no person too sick to be made healthy, no one too alone to feel like New York is their home.”
While they have a few other similar coats, the customization on this is what makes it specifically cool. I’m sure I’m not the only New Yorker clamoring to get my hands on a similar version… or at least something with that NYC logo on it. Its very NYON-coded.
