Camping in Austin

As part of a former life, my job required I camp in Austin several times one summer. While I do not recommend going in the summer, camping outside the capital is totally doable and dare I say, even fun!

Day 1

Dinner at the Salt Lick, stop on the way in for alcohol for your group–its BYOB!

6:30pm Dinner at Salt Lick (BYOB)

8:00 Drive to camp

8:30 Set up camp

9:00 Drive to Austin & Rage

Day 2

8:00am Breakfast

9:00am Float the river

12:00pm Head into Austin for either UT campus or Texas state capitol

5:00pm meet on South Congress for drinks (Chuy’s is my favorite)

7:00pm Dinner

Broken Spoke $15 cover on Friday

Another option is The Oaisis on Lake Travis for dinner if you’re willing to drive.

Day 3

8:00am breakfast then departure, could stop at whatever you skipped the day before on your way out.
